Zinc etching and bronze casting: the basis of Eagle's signage quality

Eagle's international reputation for golf club and course signage is based on our unique ability to deep etch into zinc plate. The result is not only highly durable and exceptionally weatherproof by comparison to other materials, but has a physical depth that projects a higher standard of quality compared to materials with flat surfaces.

From bespoke to standard
Golf signage consists mostly of one-off designs for external usage. Our plates and plaques can be cut to any shape or size and mounted onto almost anything.

Specialised process
Course Signage manufacture is a specialised expertise, and Eagle's materials have been carefully selected to ensure a finished product of the highest quality.

The image is applied to the metal surface by exposing a film
onto UV-sensitive chemical, which is subsequently etched.
The plates are first primed then sprayed with a coarse finish,
low temperature stoving paint. The raised areas are then
machine-ground, in-filled to customer specification, and
finished in epoxy resin and a two-part polyurethane coating
for ultimate UV stability.

This process allows our design team enormous flexibility to create an integral system tailored precisely to your club's
particular needs.

Cast Bronze

The bronze plaque is literally indestructible as well as being maintenance free. We supply the plaque with a 'penny bronze' or a painted finish. All plaques are coated with a two pack polyurethane protection. Sun, excessive heat, ice, snow, intense cold, rain, treading on, vandals - whatever one throws at Bronze – it will withstand almost anything. The timeless look and feel make cast bronze a favourite with established courses and is a 'forever' product in any environment, however harsh.

Our pattern making system enables us to offer much higher resolution for bronze castings than conventional methods and therefore capable of portraying the most complex of images within the plaque. Any shape and size of bronze can be produced making this product totally 'design led' – essential when incorporating into a branded collateral design.

We are able to cast a blind fixing into the reverse of each plaque to enable easy and permanent fixing to naturally hewn rock.

BronZinc

Alternatively the etched zinc plate can be coated creating a BronZinc option. This is a brand new kind of signage finish.

A liquid metal coating that can be cold sprayed onto zinc panels, BronZinc looks like bronze cast but retains high resolution detail, is less expensive than pure bronze and yet extremely durable.

BronZinc provides a stronger finish than stoving and powder coating which are relatively old fashioned techniques compared with metal and resin-based surfacings. BronZinc has the advantages of the durability and hardness of bronze, but with the cost advantages you gain by applying it as a metal powder-based resin to zinc panels.

Granite

Sandblasted granite is a further graphic option. Black granite slabs are pre-cut and stored, ready to be used as mow-overs or mounted into timber frames.

Sandblasting does not allow intricate artwork but is very capable of meeting 95% of design requirements, including hole diagrams. The smooth texture of polished granite ensures that algae and moss cannot attach themselves to the surface, thereby less cleaning is required.
